​LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGNS

Writing a letter to the School Board Members and the Superintendent may seem like a small effort, especially when they do not reply. But, it definitely is no small effort! It's HUGE! Every time you write a letter or email it becomes public record. It is a way we can say "look at all these people who cared enough to spend their valuable time writing to you about this very important issue!" Sometimes, your letters are even read aloud at a board meeting. So please take the time to write about what is important to you and your relationship to the Forest Hills School District. Your efforts will NOT go unnoticed.

Invite your friends! Share what you’ve sent, and let’s showcase our support for our schools and channel our feelings and opinions into action. It’s important to show where you stand as a community member on these topics.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO YOU!

Thank you to everyone who wrote to the School Board and Superintendent Hook during our "Transparency and Community Input Into Consolidation Plans" letter writing campaign! You played a huge part in raising awareness by lending your voice and your opinions. The district heard you loud and clear! They heard that secrecy will not be tolerated and that we like our current system of two high schools and smaller class sizes. We owe the fact that we now have a levy on the ballot to YOU! Now, let's pass this levy and keep the programs and level of education that our district is known for.

TIPS AND CONSIDERATIONS

FOCUSED: Keep emails focused and on one topic. It’s better to send separate emails per issue than trying to address all the issues in one.

RELATABLE AND DIRECT: Consider including some information that includes who you are, your relationship to FHSD, your connection to the issue, and what you’d like to see from the board.

COPY ALL: Make sure to send to all the board members and the superintendent. It is important for everyone to hear your message if they agree with you or not!
